It is scientifically known as Cyclamen persicum, Cyclamen is a genus of 23 species of perennial flowering plant in the family Primulaceae.  It is the species which is native to Europe and the Mediterranean Basin east to Iran, with one species in Somalia.  In some areas it has some colloquial names like Sowbread, or Swinebread. 

Cyclamen is a perennial flowering plant with its attractive foliage and flowers.  The flowers are cherished for its vibrant and beautiful shades of white, pink, red and purple.  The foliage is also very attractive and striking with its dark green leaves and heart shaped or round geometry.

It is the best indoor plant which adds charm and aesthetics to the rooms, Cyclamen is a seasonal blooming plant which blooms in winter seasonal and makes the place very bright and colorful.  It is the good indoor plant for all its desirable features and it is also analysed and reported as one of the best indoor air purifying plant by NASA.

PEACOCK PLANT:

Peacock Air Purifying Plant

It is scientifically known as Calathea makoyana and it is species in the genus Calathea which belongs to the family Marantaceae.  It is native to Brazil.  Some of the common names of calathea are peacock plant, cathedral window.

Peacock plant is popularly known for its foliage, it is a tall and slender plant with the very elegant and striking leaves just resembling the peacock’s tail, which is why it has rewarded these charming and royal name.  The leaves are very unique and striking with a bright green feathered effect from the middle of the least to the outer edges. The underside of the leaves are also striking with pinkish maroon rather than green.  

It has gained the Royal Horticultural society’s Award of Garden Merit. It is scientifically known as Codiaeum variegatum pictum.  Croton is an extensive flowering plant which belongs to the family Euphorbiacea. The common names for this genus are rushfoil and croton.

It is scientifically known as Schlumbergera bridgesii. Christmas cactus is from the family Cactaceae which is native to the rain forest in Brazil. It is commonly known as Christmas cactus.

Christmas cactus is the plant which is best suited for indoor conditions, they prefer very low temperatures and the growth of the plant is very optimum to indoors, it grows approximately 6-12 inches in height and width from 1-2 feet.

Christmas cactus is the most demanding and familiar plant for its striking and attractive blooms and it is the plant which is widely used to enhance the indoor aesthetics, landscape designing, beautification and as showy plant.

It is also one of the listed out indoor air purifying plant by NASA in clean air study conducted on indoor landscaping. The blooms of the plant are very demanding and attractive, they grab the attention and gives vibrant look to the place it is added. EASTERN CACTUS:

Eastern Cactus

It is scientifically known as Hatiora gaertneri which belong to the family Cactaceae. The Eastern cactus is native to South America, Southeastern Brazil. The common names are Eastern cactus, Whitsun cactus, Holiday cactus, Spring cactus.

It is a beautiful succulent which gives splendid look to the surroundings. The Eastern cactus is similar to Christmas Cactus, in non blooming seasons they just look very similar. Eastern cactus blooms in the spring season.

The Eastern cactus is also one of the listed out natural indoor air purifiers by NASA. Both the Cactus varieties have a unique characteristic of removing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere at night. So, with its very unique property it is considered as the best bed room plant just like a snake plant.

The flowering period is in between March to May, the flowers are usually Red or Pink. The flowers are very dominant, vibrant and smells good. The Eastern cactus is a type of house plant which goes well in containers, hanging baskets and adds tropical look to the place.

It gives you the best blooms if provided with optimum indoor conditions like it prefers half-shade, bright indirect light. Over and under water is not preferable which should be avoided. It should have well drained water system.
